Next Steps in Abdominal Ultrasound – Brisbane (2019)

18/05/2019

15 Participants

8.30 – 16.30

Brisbane, QLD

Two-day course designed for veterinary surgeons familiar with basic abdominal ultrasound.

This course has been designed for those already familiar with basic abdominal ultrasonography. It is an ideal follow on from the Introduction to Ultrasound Fast Track course.

Program

Over the weekend, delegates will learn the next steps in ultrasonography of the gastrointestinal tract. Whilst discussing normal anatomy and physiology, you will be taught further practical scanning of the abdominal organs including various techniques to identify the pancreas, adrenal glands, peritoneal cavity and lymph nodes. Participants will have the opportunity to practice the use of Doppler for examination of larger abdominal blood vessels.

You’ll discuss how to make ultrasonographic diagnoses of diseases and case based examples will help consolidate your knowledge of the topics covered.

Both days include practical ‘hands-on’ scanning, accompanying notes and resources and the opportunity to liaise closely with the internal medicine and imaging specialist involved.

Please note: As this course is run in conjunction with the second weekend of our Small Animal Ultrasonography modular program, the following topics will have already been covered in the program: physical principles of ultrasound; artefacts; machine types; choosing a machine; machine set-up; general examination techniques, ultrasonography of the liver, gall bladder and spleen; and ultrasonography of the urogenital tract. Therefore, basic knowledge of scanning the abdomen is assumed for delegates undertaking this course.
