This course aims to provide delegates with the knowledge to achieve standard echocardiographic views in dogs including right and left side views and M mode.

The common artefacts which may be confused with cardiac pathology will be covered and an overview of the changes seen in common acquired and congenital cardiac disease in the dog and cat will be illustrated. The theory of Doppler will be introduced and its application in acquired and congenital disease. Normal Doppler findings will be discussed. Changes associated with hypertension, anaemia, hyperthyroidism and other systemic disease that can cause echocardiographic changes will be covered. The course has a high practical content and there is plenty of opportunity to practise the taught techniques.
